BcY: Do you know what (D)DoS attack is? Basically a
flood of messages which slows down / crashes the server.
Therefore the built-in flood protection can help. Especially when the attack is special one which is designed to crash CS2D servers by sending certain packets which require a lot calculations/bandwidth/IOPS.
This however is limited. At some point (when there are enough messages incoming) the server won't be able to keep up with handling them. The content of the messages doesn't even matter anymore when there are enough of them.
The most effective way to protect against DoS attacks is to block the IP of the attacker in the system firewall. This doesn't work for real DDoS attacks because there are too many different attacker IPs.
